ROAR is entirely volunteer-powered. Every action — from a $25 donation to a year of one-on-one support — makes a direct difference.

Before coming to Canada, my life was in serious danger. As a woman in Afghanistan, I had no secure future or opportunity to grow. The compassion and generosity of ROAR and my sponsoring group was not just support—they saved my life. Thanks to their kindness, I now live in safety and dignity, have learned several skills, and can build an independent and hopeful future in Canada. I extend my deepest gratitude to ROAR and my sponsors for their kind hearts and for saving the lives of people who are truly in danger.”

Join - or start - a sponsorship group

A ROAR sponsorship group is a team of five or more people who commit to supporting one LGBTQI+ refugee for their first year in Canada. You provide practical help, financial support, friendship, and a connection to the community.

Lend your expertise

ROAR benefits from people who bring professional skills — communications, legal support, marketing, photography, event planning. If you have a skill, we want to hear from you.
